SCIENCE IN ROOM 10
Last week in science, we were looking at gases. We filled bottles with different ingredients and observed the bottles, recorded the data and analyzed our hypothesis.

First, we measured the ingredients, we filled 4 bottles with different ingrediemts.
Bottle 1: Water and Yeast
Bottle 2: Water, Yeast and Sugar
Bottle 3: Water and Sugar
Bottle 4: Yeast and Sugar

Then we placed a balloon over the top of the bottle. We were hoping for a reaction to happen as the gas built up in the bottle. The gas was created from a chemical change within the ingredients.
We had to wait to see, which ingredients were going to react and give off a gas. The gas would in turn, inflate the balloon, which was placed over the top of the bottles.

Each group placed their bottles around the garden stonework, and waited for 30 minutes. Everyone was hoping for a reaction to occur.

GROUP  1
GROUP  2
GROUP  3
GROUP  4
GROUP  5
GROUP  6
Then the "Recorder" from each group, collected data about our bottles, every 30 minutes. This recording happened throughout the afternoon.
Then the Recorder, returned to their group with the data. Each person in each group, recorded the data onto their science worksheet. it was important we all recorded the data correctly.
After 30 minutes, we were really surprised. The ingredients were beginning to react together and a gas was beginning to form.
We noticed, the bottle labelled number 2, with the water, sugar and yeast, was the bottle where the reaction was happening. The combination of these ingredients was causing a chemical reaction and it was giving off a gas, which was inflating the balloon.
We continued to record the information and data bought back to each group from the group Recorder.
We were all becoming excited about our science experiments, as we were starting to see things happening to our balloons. We couldn't wait for the next 30 minutes to happen.
Another 30 minutes later and we were so surprised.
We continued to record our data on our science sheets. We really enjoyed the science lesson and we learnt about how gases are formed and the reactions that gases can create. We recorded all the data from the afternoon, and we created four different graphs with information and data collected from each bottle.
